What do you enjoy most about the work you do?
I enjoy solving complex problems that incorporate art and science (emotional intelligence and logic), I really enjoy people, and I appreciate a challenge. It is rewarding to build trusting relationships where I can help people make impactful decisions on their lives.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I’m a baseball guy. I grew up idolizing Ken Griffey Jr. as a Pacific Northwest Native and that era of Mariners baseball captured me. I now volunteer/coach youth baseball in the Seattle area and it is my number one hobby from March to August. Myself, my wife, and three young children are also skiers, spending ample time on the mountain in the winter.
How did you arrive at Baird?
My experience in wealth management started out as a client. My first career was professional baseball when I was drafted my senior year of high school by the Texas Rangers in the 2nd round. I had no real relationship with money prior to that point, when I was offered a considerable signing bonus at 18 years old. I hired a financial advisor who took great care in helping me understand the fundamentals of investing and setting long-term goals. When baseball was over, I decided to pursue a career in wealth management and provide the type of guidance that I had received. When the opportunity presented itself to work with The Atkins Group at Baird, it was obvious I had found a team that shared my drive to serve clients.
